Straightforward pricing

Most Charlotte haulers won't show a price until they're standing in your driveway. We publish starting prices for common items. There's no single-item minimum. Several items or a cleanout are estimated as one job from a photo, not by adding up item prices.

Several items or a cleanout

Text a photo to (704) 459-5052 for a rough estimate. The exact price is confirmed on-site before anything is hauled.

Every job includes a 2-person crew, in-home removal from any main-floor or garage location, all loading, disposal fees for general junk, and a sweep-up. Same-day service when booked before noon (when available).

All prices are ballpark estimates — we validate your exact price on-site before we haul anything. You'll know the real number before we touch a thing. No hidden fees, no upsell. Got one piece and not sure where it lands? Text a photo to (704) 459-5052 and we'll price it straight off the rate card.

The cheapest ways to get rid of bulky junk in Charlotte

Free at the curb if you get city garbage, schedule the pickup, and the items are on the list. Free at the county gate for exactly one item with the resident sticker, priced past that. A paid hauler for everything else.

More details on the cheapest options Fewer details

City of Charlotte bulky collection is the cheapest way to clear an eligible load: nothing to pay, no driving, and free to the resident who already gets city garbage, schedules the pickup, and puts eligible items at the curb. Mecklenburg County's Full-Service Disposal & Recycling Centers are the cheapest door for exactly one item you haul yourself — GROUP 1, no charge with the resident sticker — and the door when you have no city garbage service, an item the city will not take, or no time to wait. Past one item the county prices the load. Both programs are covered on where your junk goes in Mecklenburg.

If you can drive one bulky item to a county Full-Service Center yourself, that can cost you nothing at the gate. The county's fee sheet labels GROUP 1 a “1 Item Only Category”. The GROUP 1 fee cell is “No Charge” — for a Mecklenburg County resident whose vehicle displays the free resident sticker. The sticker is the whole condition. The same sheet states: “If no sticker is displayed, you will pay based on the out of county category.”

The sheet puts the sticker itself this way: “Current blue stickers do not expire, even if they display an earlier date.” Fee attendants at the Full-Service Centers issue them.

The moment there is more than one item, GROUP 2 prices the whole load. There is no first-item discount inside GROUP 2. The county's fee sheet states: “Bulky Waste: $15/unit”. Construction and demolition debris on that same GROUP 2 cell is “Construction & Demolition Debris: $25/” per unit. A unit is a load, not an item. The sheet's note reads “1 unit = 1 load of material”, and its example of two units is a loaded vehicle plus a loaded trailer. One loaded pickup is one unit, not one unit per thing in the bed. GROUP 2 has a ceiling too: units under three cubic yards. Bigger loads and longer trailers move to GROUP 3 and get weighed. Those are county gate fees, not 704junk rates.

Not everything at those centers is priced by the load. The same sheet accepts household hazardous waste — chemicals, fertilizers, batteries and paints out of a home, no business materials — at no charge from Mecklenburg County residents, and names batteries, car batteries included, among what a resident may bring in.

Quoted from Mecklenburg County residential fees, FY July 2026 – June 2027, document code FY-27-002 — Residential-Fees.pdf (mecknc.widen.net), fetched September 20, 2026, HTTP 200. This is a county drop-off fee schedule. It is not a City of Charlotte curbside rule, and it is not a 704junk hauling price. Checked September 2026.

If you do not want to drive it, and you already get City of Charlotte garbage collection, the city's bulky-item program is next: free to you, scheduled, and it will take a couch. The same list is where the city's truck stops.

If you already get City of Charlotte garbage, you schedule the pickup, and the item is on the city's bulky list, that couch does not need us. Couches, chairs, mattresses, and box springs sit on the eligible side of that list. Pallets are on that eligible side too, listed by the City as “Pallets.” — with the City's condition that they be broken down with the nails removed or flattened. That is a city curbside program, free to the resident, and it is a genuinely good option.

Debris from a commercial contractor's work is not a city pickup. The City's eligibility list puts it this way: “Any materials resulting from work performed by a commercial contractor.” Roofing is out as well; the City lists “Roofing materials, shingles.” Insulation is the same story — on the not-eligible side the entry reads “Insulation.” Tree stumps are out too, filed by the City as “Tree stumps.” Countertops in marble, simulated marble, or granite do not ride the city truck either, and the City's wording is “Marble or simulated marble countertops (includes granite).” Chain-link fencing is the last of them, listed by the City as “Chain link fencing.”

Quoted from the City of Charlotte bulky-item eligibility list (PDF): Bulky Item Eligibility (charlottenc.gov), fetched September 20, 2026, HTTP 200. This is a city curbside eligibility list. It is not a Mecklenburg County drop-off rule, and it is not a 704junk hauling price. Checked September 2026. Eligibility lists change — read the linked PDF before you set anything out.

One more rule sits under both programs, and it is about where a thing may end up, not what it costs.

A few things cannot go into a North Carolina landfill at all — and that is a recycling rule, not a price. A ban says where an item may not end up, not what it costs to move. NC DEQ's landfill-ban list names “Lead-acid batteries”. The same list names “Wooden pallets”. It lists “Motor vehicle oil filters”. Two of the three have a door named up this page: Mecklenburg takes batteries at no charge as household hazardous waste (No Business Materials allowed, in the county’s own words), and the City's bulky list takes pallets broken down. The county sheet does not name oil filters at all, so ask the county before you load those.

A narrower ban sits under its own heading. NC DEQ writes: “Banned from disposal in construction and demolition debris landfills:” That heading is not the general landfill list. Under it the page names “Fluorescent lights”. The same heading covers “Mercury-containing thermostats”. Those two are banned from construction and demolition debris landfills, not from every landfill in the state.

Quoted from the NC Department of Environmental Quality, North Carolina Landfill Disposal Bans: Landfill Disposal Bans (deq.nc.gov), fetched September 20, 2026, HTTP 200. This is a state landfill ban list. It is not a Mecklenburg County drop-off rule, and it is not a City of Charlotte curbside rule. Checked September 2026. Disposal rules change — read the linked page before you assume an item is accepted.

704 Junk is full-service junk removal: furniture, appliances, mattresses, construction debris, garage and estate cleanouts. We come inside and do the lifting. The two programs above are good free options; they are not a specialty we fill in around. The City of Charlotte will take a load of eligible items at the curb. A Charlotte resident with one couch, a city garbage account, and a free Saturday should schedule the city's bulky pickup — or drive that one item to a county Full-Service Center with the resident sticker on the windshield. You probably do not need us for that job. You would need us if the item is off the city's list, if a commercial contractor's work left it, or if it has to come out of the house instead of sitting at the curb. Text a photo and we will say which job it is.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to what Charlotte homeowners ask us most.

How much does junk removal cost in Charlotte?

There's no single-item minimum. Single items start from $85. Several items or a cleanout are estimated as one job from a photo, not by adding up item prices. A two-person crew, loading, and disposal are included. Text a photo for a rough estimate — the exact price is confirmed on-site before we haul anything.

Do you come inside, or is it curbside only?

We come inside. Unlike curbside-only services, our crew removes items from any main-floor room, garage, attic, or basement — you don't have to drag anything to the curb. Stairs above the main floor add $30 per flight.

How do I get a quote?

The fastest way is to text or email a photo of what you want gone to (704) 459-5052 or [email protected]. You can also use the quote form on this page. We reply with a rough estimate from the photo.

Is the price guaranteed?

The published prices are ballpark estimates for single items — not a locked contract. We validate your exact price on-site (or from your photo) before any work starts, so you know the real number up front. No hidden fees, ever.

Can you come the same day?

Often, yes — book before noon and we'll do our best to come the same day, based on crew availability. There's never a rush fee for it.

Do you charge extra for appliances with freon?

No. Refrigerators, freezers, and AC units are priced the same whether or not they hold freon — no freon fee, ever. Our add-ons include a $25 e-waste fee on TVs and monitors and $8 per tire; those are our fees, not a county mandate.

What won't you take?

For safety and county rules, we can't haul wet paint, oils, fuels, chemicals, asbestos, medical or biohazard waste, or ammunition. Everything else a two-person crew can carry is fair game. Mecklenburg County offers county residents free household hazardous-waste drop-off for leftover paint, oils, fuels, and chemicals. The county’s fee sheet says of household hazardous waste: “No Business Materials allowed.” Ammunition, explosives, and medical or biohazard waste are excluded from that drop-off; for questions about whether an item is acceptable, email [email protected]. The county says “Responses will typically occur within 4 hours during weekdays.”

Where does the junk go?

Whatever can be donated or recycled, we route there first; the rest goes to a licensed disposal facility. Disposal fees for general junk are already baked into the price you're quoted. Full breakdown of the donation → recycling → disposal flow →

What is the cheapest way to get rid of junk in Charlotte?

City of Charlotte bulky pickup is the cheapest way to clear an eligible load — nothing to pay, no driving — if you already get city garbage, schedule it, and the items are on the list. A Mecklenburg County Full-Service Center is no charge for exactly one item with the resident sticker, and priced past that; it is the door when you have no city garbage, an item the city will not take, or no time to wait. Paying a hauler is for the load you are not going to carry. Both are sourced in the bulky-junk section on this page and on where your junk goes in Mecklenburg.

Is there any way to get junk hauled away for free?

Yes, with conditions. City of Charlotte bulky collection is free to the resident who already gets city garbage, schedules it, and puts eligible items at the curb. County GROUP 1 is no charge at the gate for exactly one item with the resident sticker — that is drop-off, not a pickup. 704 Junk is a paid hauler. See when you do not need to pay us.

How do I get rid of furniture without paying a hauler?

Couches, recliners, and mattresses are on the City of Charlotte bulky list unconditionally, but the pickup also needs a city garbage account and a scheduled bulky collection. With both, a load of them at the curb is a free city pickup. How to schedule it is on the Mecklenburg disposal guide. Driving that load to a county Full-Service Center is GROUP 2, not a refusal — but GROUP 2 is priced, not free, and the resident sticker belongs on the windshield, or you pay the out-of-county rate. The reason to call us is the lifting and the stairs, not the count — furniture removal in Charlotte is the paid full-service version of that job.

Do I need to be home when you come?

You or a designated contact needs to be available at the start so we can walk the pile together and confirm the price. After that, many customers step away — you do not have to supervise the whole job.

How small a job will you take?

There is no single-item minimum. One chair is a job, priced off the published rate card. If the load is eligible, you already get city garbage, and you schedule the pickup, the city's truck takes it free at the curb, and it is a good option. Driving it to a county Full-Service Center instead is no charge for exactly one item with the resident sticker, and priced past that.

Do you work with landlords, contractors, and property managers?

Yes. Unit turnovers, post-eviction cleanouts, and debris from a commercial contractor's work that the city will not collect are ordinary work for the same full-service truck. See post-eviction cleanout in Charlotte. We haul the mixed load; we are not a demolition contractor.
