How junk removal works in Davidson

The town does pick up ordinary bulk items, by appointment. Appliances, extra-territorial addresses, and anything you want carried out are a different job.

Davidson, North Carolina, provides garbage, recycling, and yard-waste service, so Charlotte's bulky-item program does not apply here, and neither do the programs in Pineville, Mint Hill, or Concord. The notes below quote two Town of Davidson pages: garbage and recycling collection schedules, and yard waste.

If the town's bulk appointment covers it, use that. That is the town route for ordinary bulk items, including furniture that is too large for the regular collection. This page does not describe how the contractor performs the pickup. 704 Junk is not the town appointment, and the town's pages do not recommend a private hauler.

Appliances are the exception those notes state. The town does not collect them. A resident can haul a refrigerator, stove, range, water heater, or freezer to the North Mecklenburg Recycling Center, or hire a hauler. 704 Junk is one hauler. We come inside and carry it out. The town's pages do not recommend us. That same visit can include furniture, appliances, mattresses, remodel and construction debris, limbs past the yard-waste limits, and garage and estate cleanouts.

An address in the extra-territorial jurisdiction gets no town garbage or recycling collection. Residents there make their own arrangements. We are not a weekly trash service, and this page is not an offer to become one. For a one-off haul-away, text the address and we will confirm.

For a town address, weekly garbage, weekly yard waste, and every-other-week recycling are collected. A cart that fits those rules does not need us. Text a photo to (704) 459-5052 or email [email protected] for an appliance, an extra-territorial one-off, a load you want carried out, remodel debris the town does not treat as yard waste, limbs or loads past the yard-waste rules, yard waste a contractor generated, or a mixed cleanout in one visit. Our prices stay on the homepage and in the cost guide. This page does not reprint them. For county drop-off charges, see what the centers charge and where junk goes in Mecklenburg.

What the Town of Davidson actually says

Three town facts from two pages: bulk is by appointment, appliances and the extra-territorial jurisdiction sit outside town collection, and yard waste has measured limits.

Ordinary bulk items have a town appointment, and that service is not an extra fee. If the town's bulk appointment covers it, use that. The Town of Davidson writes: “There continues to be no additional charge for the bulk pickup service.” The same page pairs that with the bill residents already pay. It says residents are charged in their tax bills for garbage and recycling service. That appointment is the town route for a bulk item it covers. 704 Junk is not that appointment.

The booking rule is a phone call to the town's contractor. The town writes: “Customers who need a bulk pickup must call Waste Pro prior to 2:00 p.m. the day before their normal trash day to make an appointment for bulk pickup.” This page does not add anything about how that pickup is performed.

Bulk, on this page, means an item whose size gets in the way of the regular collection. The town writes: “Furniture or other items where large size precludes or complicates handling by normal solid waste collection, procession, or disposal methods.” The examples stay open. The town writes: “This may include swing sets, bicycles (without tires), scrap metal, copper, and other similar items.”

Quoted from the Town of Davidson, Garbage and Recycling Collection Schedules: Garbage and Recycling Collection Schedules (townofdavidson.org), fetched October 3, 2026, HTTP 200. This is a town bulk-pickup rule. It is not a 704junk hauling price, not a City of Charlotte curbside rule, and not a Mecklenburg County drop-off fee. Checked October 2026.

Weekly garbage and yard waste are collected for town residents, and the recycle cart is emptied every other week. Appliances are not part of that collection. The town writes: “Garbage and yard waste will be collected every week.” Recycling goes out on the same day, every other week. The town writes: “The 96-gallon recycle cart will be emptied every other week.”

Appliances are named as outside the collection. The town writes: “The Town does not collect appliances.” The examples on that page are given as “such as refrigerators, stoves and ranges, water heaters, or freezers.” The drop-off it names is the North Mecklenburg Recycling Center. This page prints no street address for it. Hauling an appliance there is one option. Hiring a hauler is another. 704 Junk is one hauler, and the town's pages do not recommend us.

The service the town does run is billed with taxes, not as a separate pickup charge on this page. The town writes: “The Town of Davidson contracts with Waste Pro to provide garbage and recycling service to Davidson residents, and residents are charged in their tax bills.” Waste Pro is named there as the town's contractor, and only as that.

The extra-territorial jurisdiction is outside town garbage and recycling collection. The town writes: “The town does not collect garbage and recycling in the extra-territorial jurisdiction.” The next instruction is aimed at the resident. The town writes: “If you live in the extra-territorial jurisdiction, please make your own arrangements for trash and recycling collection.” We are not a weekly trash service. For a one-off haul-away from an extra-territorial address, text the address and we will confirm.

Yard waste is a weekly town pickup with a measured cap. Remodel debris is not yard waste, and yard waste a contractor generated is not collected. The volume cap is the town's figure. The town writes: “There is a 4 cubic yard limit per pick-up.” Bags have their own weekly count. The town writes: “Residents are allowed up to 20 bags per week.” Each bag has a size and a weight. The town writes: “Bags cannot be larger than 40 gallons in size and cannot be more than 50 pounds in weight.”

Bagged leaves have to be clean of other material. The town writes: “All bagged leaves must be free of sticks and other debris.” Those bags go out with the regular carts. The town writes: “Bagged leaves will be collected along with residents’ garbage and recyclables.”

Construction leftovers are a different material. The town writes: “Yard waste does not consist of construction debris, demolition debris, dirt, brick, block, sod, mud, pavement or any other material that could be defined as household waste or non-compost material.” Yard waste a private contractor generated is not collected. The town writes: “yard waste generated by private contractors will not be collected.”

Limbs have a measured shape on the same yard-waste page: 6 feet long and 4 inches in diameter. Those two sizes are our wording of the town's limit, not a quotation of its sentence. Limbs past that size, a load past the bag and volume rules, remodel debris, sod, and yard waste a contractor generated sit outside the weekly pickup. Carrying those out is work we do. For what a county drop-off charges, see the drop-off section on our homepage.

Davidson junk removal FAQ

Straight answers before you book the town appointment or text us to carry something out.

Does Davidson pick up furniture and other bulk items?

Yes. Book the town's bulk appointment when it covers the item. The town's schedules page says there is no additional charge for that bulk pickup service, and residents are charged in their tax bills for garbage and recycling. Furniture that is too large for normal collection is the kind of item that page describes. 704 Junk is a separate option when you want the piece carried out of the house. We are not the town pickup, and the town does not recommend us.

Will Davidson take my refrigerator, stove, freezer, or water heater?

No. The town does not collect appliances. The examples it names include refrigerators, stoves and ranges, water heaters, and freezers. You can haul one to the North Mecklenburg Recycling Center, or hire a hauler. 704 Junk is one hauler. We come inside and carry it out. The town's pages do not recommend us.

I live in the extra-territorial jurisdiction. Who picks up my trash?

Not the town. Davidson does not collect garbage and recycling in the extra-territorial jurisdiction, and it tells those residents to make their own arrangements. 704 Junk is not a weekly trash service, and this is not an offer to be one. For a one-off haul-away, text your address and we will confirm.

Will yard waste pickup take remodel debris, sod, or big limbs?

Not as yard waste. The town's yard-waste page says yard waste does not consist of construction debris, demolition debris, dirt, brick, block, sod, mud, pavement, or any other material that could be defined as household waste or non-compost material. Yard waste generated by private contractors is not collected. The same page sets a 4 cubic yard limit per pick-up, allows up to 20 bags per week, and keeps each bag within 40 gallons and 50 pounds. Limbs on that page are limited to 6 feet long and 4 inches in diameter; that size is our wording of the town's limit, not a quotation. Anything past those rules is outside the weekly pickup, and we can haul it.

Do you haul a move-out or rental cleanout in Davidson?

Yes. A move-out or rental cleanout is our service. We come inside and take the furniture, the appliances, and the mixed load in one visit. It is not a town program. Text a photo and we will reply with a rough estimate, confirmed on-site before we haul anything.

Got a pile in Davidson?

If the town's bulk appointment covers it, use that. If you want it carried out of the house, text a photo and we will quote the haul.
